What are Protective Factors?

Protective Factors are essential for children, families, and communities to thrive and buffer against Adverse Childhood Experiences. Understanding and implementing the five Protective Factors, such as knowledge of parenting, parental resilience, social connections, concrete supports, and children’s social and emotional competence, is crucial for fostering well-being and preventing child abuse. Prevent Child Abuse Nebraska advocates for these measures through the Bring Up Nebraska initiative.
